SEND Teaching Assistant | London Borough of Tower Hamlets | £95 per day PAYE
A welcoming primary school in the London borough in Hackney is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their committed SEND team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and helping them thrive both academically and socially within a nurturing school environment. The school provides bespoke specialist classrooms for children with SEND with adapted tailored curriculums to meet the individual needs for the child. The SEND team includes experienced SLTs and a supportive team within their autism provision.
The Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs.
- Assist children with communication, learning, emotional, and social development.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to deliver tailored support strategies.
- Encourage independence and confidence within the classroom.
- Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in school life.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children with SEND, either in a school or similar setting.
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting young learners.
- Has a good understanding of additional needs such as Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Is proactive, adaptable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Holds relevant qualifications or training (desirable but not essential).
