Support early communication. Build confidence. Help every child flourish.
Are you a nurturing, patient and enthusiastic individual with a passion for supporting young children with additional needs?
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school with a specialist Deaf Provision, supporting pupils across Nursery and Reception. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact during children's earliest years of education, helping them develop communication, social and learning skills within an inclusive environment.
British Sign Language (BSL) is not essential for this role. Full support will be provided, and successful candidates will be enrolled onto a BSL qualification programme after two terms within the setting.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support children in Nursery and Reception with a range of additional needs, including hearing impairments, speech and language difficulties, and developmental delays.
- Work closely with class teachers and specialist staff to ensure children can access learning and participate fully in school life.
- Encourage communication, confidence and independence through play-based and structured learning activities.
- Support the development of social skills, emotional regulation and positive relationships with peers.
- Adapt resources and activities to meet individual needs and learning styles.
- Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
- Warm, caring and passionate about supporting young children.
- Patient, adaptable and able to build positive relationships with pupils, families and staff.
- Interested in supporting children with hearing impairments and additional needs.
- A strong communicator with a willingness to learn new strategies and specialist approaches.
- Committed to promoting inclusion and helping every child reach their potential.
Previous experience working in Early Years, SEND, childcare, or education would be advantageous, but is not essential. We welcome applications from individuals with the right attitude, enthusiasm and desire to make a difference.
Why Apply?
This is a unique opportunity to gain experience within a specialist Deaf Provision while working in a supportive mainstream setting. You will receive ongoing training and professional development, including the opportunity to begin a BSL qualification after two terms, allowing you to further develop your skills and career within SEND education.
Every day will bring new opportunities to support children's communication, confidence and independence, helping to lay the foundations for future success.
If you are passionate about early years education and supporting children with additional needs, we would love to hear from you!
