We are supporting a specialist education setting seeking a dedicated Senior HLTA to play a vital role in supporting pupils with additional needs, social, emotional and mental health challenges, neurodiversity, and complex learning profiles.
This is a unique opportunity to combine the hands-on support of a Teaching Assistant with greater responsibility for attendance, behaviour, pupil progress and family engagement. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, pastoral teams and families to help pupils achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting pupils within the classroom and across the wider school day
- Leading small group and individual interventions
- Acting as a key point of contact for pupils and their families
- Monitoring attendance and implementing early intervention strategies where needed
- Supporting positive behaviour through restorative and reflective approaches
- Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience, communication skills and independence
- Assisting with educational planning, assessments and progress tracking
- Working collaboratively with teaching, therapy and inclusion teams
- Supervising classes when required in the absence of a teacher
- Contributing to a safe, nurturing and highly structured learning environment
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a minimum of one years' experience working with children or young people in an educational, youth work, social care or similar setting
- Understands SEND, neurodiversity and child development
- Has experience supporting pupils with SEMH needs, autism, ADHD or related additional needs
- Can build strong relationships with pupils, families and professionals
- Is highly organised and able to balance a varied workload
- Remains calm, resilient and solution-focused when faced with challenges
- Has strong behaviour management and communication skills
- Holds Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Has a HLTA qualification or is willing to work towards one
