Senior SEND Teaching Assistant - Experienced Support Staff

Parker Smith Inclusion is looking for an experienced Senior SEND Teaching Assistant for a specialist education setting in Barnet.

This opportunity is aimed at established SEND support staff who want to use the experience they have built rather than starting again in another entry-level TA position.

What will you be doing?

You will support pupils with additional needs while taking a confident and proactive role within the classroom.

Responsibilities may include:

• Supporting pupils individually and in small groups

• Implementing individual SEND and behaviour strategies

• Supporting emotional regulation and engagement

• Taking responsibility for activities under teacher direction

• Using initiative when situations change

• Helping pupils develop greater independence

• Supporting less experienced colleagues where appropriate

• Working closely with teaching, pastoral and specialist staff

Who are we looking for?

Essential:

• Strong previous Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or SEND experience

• Confidence supporting pupils with additional needs

• Good classroom awareness and professional judgement

• Ability to work independently when required

• A calm, consistent approach

• Full-time availability

Particularly relevant experience could include:

• Autism

• SEMH

• ADHD

• Complex needs

• Behaviour support

• Specialist schools

• Alternative provision

This could also suit an experienced TA who is considering progressing towards HLTA, Unqualified Teacher or teacher training in the future.

Autism & ADHD Learning Support Assistant

Barnet, North London | £95–£110 per day | Full-time

The goal of good SEND support is not to make a pupil more dependent on an adult.

It is to help them become confident enough to need that adult less.

Parker Smith Inclusion is recruiting an Autism & ADHD Learning Support Assistant to support primary-aged pupils in Barnet.

You will work with children who are capable and keen to be independent but benefit from additional structure around attention, organisation, communication and emotional regulation.

Your role

You will help pupils access learning while avoiding the temptation to step in too quickly.

You may be supporting with:

• Focus and attention during lessons

• Breaking down instructions

• Organisation and classroom routines

• Transitions between activities

• Emotional regulation

• Social interaction

• Building confidence

• Encouraging independent problem-solving

• Reinforcing strategies agreed by the SEND team
