Primary SEND Teacher
Permanent | September Start | East London
Not every teaching role is measured by test scores or written work. Sometimes, the biggest achievement is a child making eye contact for the first time, communicating a choice, or feeling safe enough to engage with the world around them.
Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a welcoming specialist primary school in East London that is looking to appoint a passionate and committed teacher on a permanent basis from September.
This is a school where every child is understood as an individual. Supporting pupils with autism and complex learning needs, the team delivers a highly personalised curriculum that places communication, independence and emotional wellbeing at the centre of learning. Many children are pre-verbal or developing their communication skills, so approaches such as PECS, Makaton and visual communication strategies are embedded throughout the school day.
Learning here is creative, practical and responsive. Whether exploring through sensory play, outdoor activities or structured classroom experiences, lessons are carefully adapted to meet each child's needs, interests and developmental stage. Staff recognise that behaviour is a form of communication, responding with empathy, consistency and positive support to help pupils feel secure and confident.
Small class sizes mean you have the time to build genuine relationships and celebrate every milestone, no matter how big or small. You will be supported by experienced teaching assistants and work closely with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and other specialists who are fully integrated into school life, ensuring every child receives a joined-up approach to their education.
The school offers excellent facilities, including dedicated sensory spaces, soft play areas and outdoor learning environments that encourage curiosity, communication and independence.
Whether you already have experience teaching children with autism or are a mainstream teacher looking to move into specialist education, this school is keen to hear from teachers who are compassionate, reflective and committed to making a lasting difference.
If you are looking for a teaching role where relationships come first and every achievement is celebrated, we'd love to hear from you.
