Specialist Complex Needs Teacher

Permanent role - September Start

Location: London Borough of Havering

Outer London Teacher Pay Scale

It's late in the recruitment cycle, and not everyone has secured the right role for September.

Perhaps you've handed in your notice and the perfect opportunity hasn't come along yet. Maybe you've attended interviews and haven't found the right fit. Or perhaps you're currently in a mainstream setting and have been considering a move into specialist education but haven't known where to start.

If any of that sounds familiar, we'd love to tell you about a permanent teaching opportunity within a specialist SEND provision in Havering.

This is a school for teachers who believe that behaviour is communication and that relationships come before results. The pupils have a range of needs, including SEMH, autism, and complex presentations. Progress here doesn't always look like a set of SATs results. Sometimes it's a child entering a classroom willingly, regulating their emotions independently, or trusting an adult enough to ask for help.

The school is looking for a qualified teacher who can combine high expectations with patience, consistency, and curiosity. You do not need years of specialist experience to be considered. Applications are welcomed from experienced SEND teachers as well as mainstream teachers who are ready for a different challenge and want to develop their specialist practice.

In return, you'll join a team that understands the realities of working in specialist education. Staff are encouraged to be reflective, ask questions, and continue learning. You will be given the time and support needed to understand your pupils, build meaningful relationships, and develop your own professional confidence.

If you are still considering your options for September, this could be the opportunity that changes the direction of your teaching career.
