As a Teaching Assistant, you already understand how important it is to keep children safe, supported, and able to access learning in a way that works for them, in this role, that responsibility becomes even more specialist.

We are seeking an experienced and trained Teaching Assistant with knowledge of epilepsy care and seizure support to work within SEND education settings. This is a vital role supporting children and young people with complex medical and learning needs, ensuring they can access education safely and confidently.

This is not just a support role, it is a position of trust, care, and responsibility that can directly impact a young person’s ability to thrive in school.

You will be supporting students with epilepsy and additional SEND needs across the school day. This may include:

  • Providing close supervision and ensuring pupil safety at all times

  • Responding appropriately in the event of a seizure, following care plans and protocols

  • Supporting pupils with learning activities, both 1:1 and in small groups

  • Working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and medical professionals

  • Assisting with daily routines, transitions, and emotional regulation support

  • Helping to create a calm, structured, and safe learning environment

Every student you support will have individual needs, and consistency of care will be essential.

Who This Role Suits

  • Teaching Assistants with epilepsy/seizure training and experience

  • Individuals with SEND, healthcare, or support work backgrounds

  • Calm, reliable, and highly responsible professionals

  • Strong communication skills and ability to follow care plans precisely

  • A compassionate approach with a genuine commitment to pupil safety and wellbeing

Experience within SEND settings is highly beneficial, but your training, awareness, and confidence in managing epilepsy safely are what matter most.

What You Can Expect

  • Meaningful work supporting children with complex needs

  • A collaborative team environment within SEND education settings

  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities

  • The chance to make a real and immediate difference every day

This is a role where attention, care, and presence truly matter, for the right person, it is also incredibly rewarding.
