We’re looking for a Specialist Primary Teacher to join a dedicated specialist education setting in Watford from January 2027.

About the Role

As the class teacher, you’ll create a structured, engaging and nurturing learning environment where pupils feel safe, understood and motivated to succeed.

You’ll plan and deliver personalised learning programmes linked to individual EHCP outcomes, adapting lessons and teaching strategies to meet the needs of every pupil.

You’ll also work closely with LSAs, families and external professionals to provide a consistent and joined-up approach to each child’s development.

The Setting

The setting supports primary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, learning difficulties and speech and language needs.

The curriculum is designed to develop the whole child, combining academic learning with communication, social development, confidence and independence.

Pupils also benefit from opportunities beyond the traditional classroom, including activities such as swimming, PE and trampolining.

You’ll be joining a collaborative and nurturing team that understands that, in specialist education, even the smallest steps forward can represent a significant achievement.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead and teach a class of primary-aged pupils with SEND

• Plan engaging and personalised lessons linked to EHCP outcomes

• Adapt teaching to accommodate different learning needs and abilities

• Monitor, assess and celebrate individual pupil progress

• Prepare reports and contribute to Annual Reviews

• Promote positive behaviour, wellbeing and independence

• Build strong relationships with pupils, families and professionals

• Work closely with and support a small team of LSAs

• Contribute to curriculum planning and wider school development

• Maintain accurate records of learning and achievement

• Take part in wider school activities and professional development

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a teacher who is patient, creative, resilient and passionate about helping children succeed.

You may already have experience working within SEND or specialist education, but we’re also keen to hear from teachers who are looking to develop their specialist practice.

You’ll need to be able to adapt your teaching, build trusting relationships and recognise that every pupil has different strengths, challenges and ways of learning.

Above all, you’ll believe that every child can make progress when given the right support, encouragement and opportunities.
