Specialist SEND Teacher – Special School
Location: Havering, East London
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: Outer London MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance
Start Date: September 2026
Are you beginning to think about your next step for September 2026?
Whether you’re actively exploring opportunities or simply curious about what else is out there, this could be the kind of role that reminds you why you became a teacher in the first place.
We are working with a fantastic specialist primary school in Havering that supports pupils with a wide range of additional needs. The school is known locally for its calm, nurturing environment and for the genuine care and dedication of its staff team. Here, progress isn’t measured only in academic results - it’s seen in the small but powerful moments: a first word, a shared laugh, a child feeling safe enough to engage in learning.
As a Specialist SEND Teacher, you’ll support pupils with autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and complex learning profiles. Lessons are adapted around the child, allowing creativity, flexibility, and relationship-building to sit at the heart of teaching.
Why this school?
A child-centred ethos
Learning is shaped around the needs of the pupils. Staff are given the time and support to focus on meaningful engagement rather than excessive paperwork.
A collaborative specialist team
You’ll work closely with experienced teaching assistants, therapists, and an understanding leadership team who are deeply committed to SEND.
A place to develop your expertise
Whether you’re already working in a special school or considering a transition into SEND, the school provides high-quality CPD and mentoring to help you grow.
A strong sense of community
Staff, families, and specialists work together to ensure every child feels supported, valued, and able to thrive.
What we’re looking for
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- A teacher who can adapt learning so that every pupil can access and enjoy it
- Someone who recognises that behaviour is communication
- A reflective practitioner who celebrates progress in all its forms
