Contract: Full-time

Make a difference where it matters most

Every pupil has the potential to make progress. As a Specialist SEND Teacher, you'll help pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties develop their communication, independence and confidence through meaningful, personalised learning experiences.

Parker Smith Inclusion is working with a specialist SEND school in Harrow seeking a dedicated Teacher to join its team and make a lasting difference to pupils with complex learning needs.

About the role

You'll lead your own class, planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to each pupil's individual needs, abilities and developmental stage.

The focus extends beyond academic learning, with an emphasis on communication, sensory exploration, personal development and preparing pupils for greater independence.

Working alongside Teaching Assistants, therapists, families and other professionals, you'll help create a supportive learning environment where every achievement is recognised.

What you'll be doing

  • Plan and deliver personalised lessons that meet individual learning needs.

  • Adapt activities, resources and teaching approaches to support different abilities.

  • Track, assess and record pupil progress.

  • Lead and support a classroom team of Teaching Assistants.

  • Create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment.

  • Encourage communication, sensory development and independence.

  • Work closely with families, carers and multidisciplinary professionals.

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and wider school initiatives.

  • Celebrate individual achievements and support pupils' ongoing development.

Who we're looking for

You don't need to have spent your entire career in specialist education to be considered.

The school welcomes applications from:

  • Experienced PMLD and SEND Teachers.

  • Mainstream Teachers looking to transition into specialist education.

  • Early Career Teachers (ECTs) seeking to develop their teaching practice.

  • Teachers with experience supporting pupils with complex learning needs.

We're looking for someone who is patient, creative and adaptable, with strong classroom management skills and a genuine commitment to helping every pupil reach their potential.

Why consider specialist SEND teaching?

Progress can take many forms. It might mean a pupil finding a new way to communicate, developing a practical skill or becoming more confident in their surroundings.

As a Specialist SEND Teacher, you'll help create the conditions for these achievements, making learning meaningful and celebrating progress at every stage.

You'll also have the opportunity to collaborate with specialist professionals, develop your SEND expertise and build your experience within a dedicated specialist setting.

What you can expect

  • M1–UPS3 Outer London Pay Scale + SEN Allowance.

  • Full-time teaching position.

  • ASAP start.

  • Specialist SEND school environment.

  • Supportive and collaborative team.

  • Opportunities to develop your specialist teaching skills.

  • Dedicated support from Parker Smith Inclusion throughout the recruitment process.
