Unqualified Teacher – SEND Specialist School
Location: Havering, London
Pay: £24,000 to £37,000
Start Date: ASAP or by agreement
Contract: Full time, permanent, term time only
A specialist SEND school in Havering is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Unqualified Teacher to join their supportive and highly collaborative team.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work in a setting where relationships are at the heart of everything. Every achievement, no matter how small, is recognised and every pupil is supported to reach their full potential.
The school supports children and young people with a range of complex needs including autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, severe learning difficulties, communication needs and differences, and demand avoidant profiles.
The role
This is not a traditional classroom teaching position. You will work closely with experienced teachers, therapists and pathway leads to deliver highly personalised learning tailored to each pupil. You will support sensory based learning, communication focused activities, emotional regulation and confidence building, all through structured and supportive interaction.
Communication is central to the role. You will support pupils using a range of approaches including Makaton, PECS, AAC and visual supports, helping them develop meaningful ways to express themselves. A trauma informed, flexible and patient approach is essential, as therapeutic support is embedded throughout the school day.
About you
This role would suit someone with experience in SEND or someone looking to build a career in specialist education. The most important qualities are resilience, empathy, adaptability and a genuine commitment to supporting children with additional needs.
What’s on offer
Ongoing training and professional development
Supportive multi disciplinary team environment
Pension scheme
Onsite parking
Meals and uniform provided
Private healthcare after one year of service
If you are looking for a role where no two days are the same and where you can make a genuine difference every day, this could be the ideal next step.
