Speech and Language Therapist – Band 6
Location: North West London
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience, Band 5–6 equivalent)
Contract: Term time only, long-term
Start Date: ASAP

What if your therapy shaped not just how children communicate, but how they experience school every single day?

In many SEND settings, Speech and Language Therapy can feel separate from the classroom. Here, it is woven into everything.

Join a highly supportive SEND school in North West London where communication sits at the centre of learning. This is a setting where your expertise directly impacts how pupils express themselves, build relationships, and access education. The leadership team have created a collaborative, therapeutic environment where education and therapy work side by side to achieve meaningful, lasting outcomes.

This provision supports both primary and secondary pupils with a range of needs including autism (ASC), speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), ADHD, SEMH, and sensory differences. Many pupils may experience communication barriers, dysregulation, anxiety, and social interaction challenges. The environment is calm, structured, and designed to support understanding, expression, and emotional safety.

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will manage your own caseload within the school, delivering practical, functional interventions that make a real difference to pupils’ daily lives. You will support the development of communication skills, from early interaction and understanding through to expressive language and social communication, while also empowering staff to embed strategies across the school.

Whether you are an experienced Band 6 therapist or a Band 5 looking to take the next step, this role offers the opportunity to develop your clinical practice within a fully integrated SEND setting.

This is where your presence is vital to helping pupils find their voice and engage with the world around them.

The Role
• Manage a defined Speech and Language Therapy caseload within the school
• Carry out functional, holistic assessments linked to communication and learning
• Deliver child-centred interventions with real, day-to-day impact
• Support speech, language, communication, and social interaction skills
• Contribute to EHCP targets with clear, measurable outcomes
• Advise and model communication strategies for staff across the school
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN teams, and other therapists

What the School Is Looking For
• HCPC registered Speech and Language Therapist
• Experience working with children and young people with SEND
• Strong understanding of autism and speech, language and communication needs
• Confidence in clinical reasoning and reflective practice
• A collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams
• A commitment to making a long-term impact in SEND education

What This Role Offers
• The opportunity to embed therapy into daily school life, not deliver it in isolation
• A collaborative multidisciplinary team that values your expertise
• Opportunities to influence whole-school communication approaches
• A setting where small, meaningful progress is recognised and celebrated
• Ongoing CPD and development within SEND and paediatric therapy

Why This Role Stands Out

In many therapy roles, progress is measured in reports. Here, it’s heard in every word, every interaction, and every moment of connection.

You will be the therapist who helps a child express their needs, the one who supports staff to create communication-rich environments, and the one who turns frustration into understanding and confidence.

Why Work With a Specialist SEND Recruitment Team?
• Tailored school matches aligned to your clinical approach and career goals
• Access to exclusive opportunities not widely advertised
• Expert insight into school culture, structure, and expectations
