Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6)
Location: Various Schools - West London
Setting: Specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Schools and SEND Schools
Contract: Full-time / Term-time only
Salary: NHS Band 6 equivalent
About the Role
Parker Smith Inclusion is seeking a passionate and skilled Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join a specialist SEMH school.
This is an exciting opportunity to deliver high-quality, evidence-based speech and language therapy in a nurturing, therapeutic educational setting. You will support pupils with complex communication needs associated with social, emotional and mental health difficulties, helping them to develop the communication and social skills they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out detailed assessments of pupils’ speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).
- Plan and deliver individual and group therapy sessions.
- Provide indirect support and advice to teaching staff to promote communication across the curriculum.
- Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, pastoral staff, educational psychologists, and occupational therapists.
- Deliver training and coaching for school staff and parents to support communication-friendly approaches.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and therapy plans in line with service and professional standards.
- Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) through assessment, reporting, and attendance at meetings.
- Monitor, review, and report on pupils’ progress towards communication goals.
About You
- Qualified Speech and Language Therapist with HCPC registration.
- Experience working with children and young people with SEMH and/or neurodevelopmental needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, DLD).
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed and therapeutic educational practices.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Confident working independently within a school setting while being part of a wider multidisciplinary team.
- Committed to reflective practice and ongoing professional development.
