Speech and Language Therapist - SEMH & SEND
Barnet, North London | £220–£300 per day PAYE | Full-time / working pattern to be confirmed
Communication difficulties do not always present as difficulties with speech.
For some young people, difficulties understanding language, expressing emotion or navigating social situations can show up as withdrawal, frustration or behaviour.
Parker Smith Inclusion is recruiting a Speech and Language Therapist for a specialist SEMH education setting in Barnet.
This is an opportunity to bring Speech and Language Therapy directly into an environment where communication, emotional wellbeing and engagement with education are closely connected.
What will you be doing?
You may be responsible for:

Completing speech, language and communication assessments

Identifying receptive and expressive language needs

Supporting social communication
-
Developing individual and group interventions
-
Advising teachers and Learning Support Assistants

Modelling communication strategies
-
Supporting staff to understand communication behind behaviour
-
Working with the wider therapeutic team

Reviewing progress and adapting programmes
-
Contributing to individual support and education planning
Who are we looking for?
Essential:
-
Qualified Speech and Language Therapist
-
HCPC registration
-
Relevant paediatric or SEND experience
-
Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills
-
Confidence working collaboratively with education staff
Experience within SEMH, autism, adolescent mental health or specialist education would be particularly useful.
