Position: Speech and Language Therapist

Are you a passionate and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young students? We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team, working across two schools in Chelmsford, supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and trauma.
About the Role:
In this role, you will provide vital speech and language therapy services to students in both a primary and secondary therapeutic school setting. Your work will focus on supporting children and adolescents who face a variety of communication challenges due to SEMH and trauma. By working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other specialists, you will help create a nurturing environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify students’ speech, language, and communication needs.
- Develop and implement individualized therapy plans tailored to each student’s needs.
- Provide direct therapy sessions, both one-on-one and in group settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to integrate therapy goals into the classroom environment.
- Monitor and report on student progress, adjusting therapy plans as necessary.
- Offer training and support to school staff to enhance their ability to support students’ communication needs.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience working with children and adolescents, particularly those with SEMH and trauma.
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with speech and language difficulties.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
