Parker Smith Inclusion is proud to be working in partnership with an outstanding SEMH specialist school in Harlow, who are seeking a dedicated and resilient Teacher to join their team.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to work within a specialist provision supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will be delivering carefully planned, highly differentiated lessons to small groups of pupils, ensuring that learning is tailored to meet both their academic ability and their emotional and social development.

Key Responsibilities

As a Teacher within this SEMH setting, you will:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons tailored to pupils with SEMH needs across primary or secondary phases
  • Differentiate learning effectively to meet a wide range of academic levels and emotional needs
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants to provide targeted 1:1 and small group support
  • Use therapeutic and trauma-informed teaching strategies to support access to learning
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, confidence building, and social skills development
  • Monitor, assess, and track pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches accordingly
  • Contribute to and support individual learning and behaviour plans
  • Collaborate with SENCOs, pastoral staff, therapists, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to pupil development
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to strengthen SEMH practice and teaching expertise

About You

We are looking for a teacher who is not only skilled in the classroom but also passionate about supporting vulnerable learners and making a meaningful difference.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs, complex behaviour, or additional learning needs (desirable but not essential in specialist settings)
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to managing behaviour
  • Strong relationship-building skills with pupils, staff, and families
  • The ability to remain consistent, supportive, and empathetic in challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A reflective approach and commitment to ongoing professional development
