I am currently working with a fantastic SEND school based in Ealing. They are currently seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and positive team in September 2025.
In this SEND Teaching Assistant role, you would be working with students within a SEND Secondary School, supporting young people with Autism, ADHD, MLD, Complex Needs and SLCN.
This position best suits someone with experience supporting children and young people with a diagnosis of Autism within a school setting, however personal experience with Autism is equally as important! If you have a passion to support vulnerable young people then this could be the role for you.
What to expect as a SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Integrating the creative arts into the curriculum such as music, art, drama and dance
- As an Autism Specialist, you will participate in a wide range of activities to promote the pupils' cognitive, cultural, social, physical, and emotional well-being.
- You must work alongside the teacher to create lesson plans and deliver learning activities
- You must monitor how the children are developing and set targets for them to reach
- Work alongside different professionals, including Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Therapists.
The ideal SEND Teaching Assistant:
- Has a personal interest in working with young people with Autism and associated learning difficulties
- Already has some experience working with children with SEND
- The ideal Autism Support Worker will be able to build strong and meaningful relationships with staff and students
- Perhaps you are a recent Graduate and you are looking to kickstart your career in an SEND School setting
- The ideal Autism Specialist will have a positive, patient, and proactive personality type with a desire to learn.
