About the Role

Parker Smith Inclusion is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work on a full-time, long-term basis. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and enabling access to learning in a supportive and inclusive environment.

You will work under the guidance of teachers and senior leaders to provide tailored support to pupils, both in and out of the classroom, helping them to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils under the direction of the class teacher

  • Working with students with various disabilities such as Autism, complex needs, SLD and speech and language difficulties 

  • Adapt learning materials to meet individual pupil needs

  • Support the inclusion of targeted pupils by implementing recommended strategies

  • Deliver targeted interventions, including literacy, numeracy, social skills and emotional regulation

  • Withdraw pupils from lessons where appropriate to provide focused support

  • Assist with planning and delivering learning activities in collaboration with teaching staff

  • Monitor and record pupil progress in line with SEN Support Plans and EHCPs

  • Provide feedback to pupils on progress and achievements

  • Support pupils’ personal, behavioural and social development, promoting positive behaviour

  • Contribute to review meetings with parents and external professionals where required

  • Work alongside external professionals to support therapeutic interventions

  • Support pupils during unstructured times, including breaks and lunchtimes

  • Use agreed positive handling approaches where necessary

  • Undertake lunchtime supervision duties as required

  • Provide general classroom and administrative support, including photocopying, displays and filing

  • Attend meetings, training sessions and professional development activities

  • Accompany pupils on educational visits and trips

  • Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by senior leaders

  • Supervise pupils before and after school and during break times when required
