Teaching Assistant – Specialist Primary ARP – Merton/South West London – Immediate Start

Are you an empathetic, patient, and resilient professional who is passionate about helping young children thrive both emotionally and academically? We are seeking a Behaviour Learning Support Assistant to join a mainstream primary school with an Additional Resourced Provision (ARP), supporting children with Autism, SLD, and associated needs.

The Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support children who may have experienced challenges in mainstream education due to Autism, SLD, ADHD, anxiety, or associated social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and the ARP lead to deliver personalised learning, social, and emotional support.

  • Implement and model positive behaviour strategies, helping pupils regulate, reflect, and engage with learning.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils through consistency, empathy, and positive reinforcement.

  • Help create a calm, nurturing classroom environment where children feel safe, respected, and ready to learn.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Compassionate, adaptable, and calm under pressure.

  • Passionate about making a genuine difference to children’s lives.

  • Skilled at building rapport with pupils who may have low confidence, complex needs, or challenging behaviour.

  • Reflective, resilient, and eager to learn; experience in an ARP, SEMH, or SEN setting is beneficial but not essential.

  • A true team-player who values collaboration, creativity, and growth.

What the School Offers

  • Small class sizes allowing for meaningful relationships and individualised support.

  • A nurturing and inclusive environment that prioritises emotional wellbeing alongside academic progress.

  • Ongoing professional development and training to help you progress in your career.

  • A close-knit, caring community that celebrates every success, big or small.
