We are working with a compassionate, therapeutic service across London, now expanding its support in Barking. With a strict no exclusion approach, this service is committed to engaging young people who are often the hardest to reach, those at high risk and outside formal education for extended periods.

As a Therapeutic Learning Mentor, you will be a steady, supportive presence for young people as they begin their journey. You will help them feel welcome, understood and supported through induction, assessment and transition over a two term period. Many of the young people you will work with have SEMH or ASC diagnoses, alongside complex additional needs. Some may have experienced trauma, exploitation or significant challenges in their lives.

This role will give you the chance to make a meaningful difference, helping young people rebuild trust, engage with support and take positive steps toward a brighter future.

What you will be doing

  • Providing outreach support to young people outside traditional classroom settings

  • Developing and implementing holistic learning and transition plans

  • Supporting students across different London locations

  • Building strong trusting and therapeutic relationships with young people

  • Responding to dysregulated behaviour using a trauma informed empathetic approach
