SEMH Outreach Mentor
London | Immediate Start | £121 per day PAYE
We are working with a specialist therapeutic outreach service operating across London. The provision takes a no-exclusions approach and supports some of the most vulnerable, high-risk and hard-to-reach young people.
This role involves supporting learners who have been out of formal education for a prolonged period and are currently unable to access a mainstream classroom environment. You will be a key part of their re-engagement journey as they begin their transition back into education.
The young people you will support have SEMH and/or ASC needs, often alongside significant additional complexities. Many have experienced trauma, exploitation, or exposure to violence and instability, and require consistent, relationship-based support to help them rebuild trust, regulate emotions, and re-engage with learning.
The service has a strong track record of positive outcomes, with many young people progressing into education or employment and beginning to thrive both academically and emotionally. For example, a learner with a history of low attendance, exclusions, PTSD and highly challenging behaviour was supported through a structured mentoring approach and is now successfully attending a specialist setting with strong engagement, improved attendance, and active participation in restorative work.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a meaningful and lasting difference in the lives of young people.
Key responsibilities and requirements:
- Develop and implement holistic learning and engagement plans to support reintegration into education
- Work outside of a traditional classroom environment, often within community-based settings
- Provide 1:1 support to highly vulnerable young people across London
- Confidently manage and respond to dysregulated behaviour, with an understanding of underlying causes
- Deliver trauma-informed, therapeutic support focused on emotional regulation and trust-building
- Full-time availability required: 8:30am–4:30pm, Monday to Friday
- Willingness to travel across London to meet learner needs
- Lunch and travel expenses (during working hours) reimbursed
If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, please get in touch. Alternatively, if this isn’t quite the right fit, we can also support you in finding a more suitable role.
