About the School
I work with a therapeutic SEN school in Chelmsford, and the school is dedicated to providing exceptional education and support to children in Key Stages 3 and 4 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia. The school offers a nurturing and inclusive environment prioritising holistic development and individualised learning.
Role Overview
As a Nurture Teacher, you will empower the students in key stage 3 to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. You will craft engaging lessons tailored to meet individual children's needs, foster a positive classroom culture, and utilise therapeutic approaches to support emotional regulation and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver dynamic and individualised lessons for Key Stage 3 students with SEMH, including PTSD, ADHD, and attachment disorder; some children have additional needs such as Autism / ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) and mild Speech and Language Communication Needs (SLCN). Many children will have mild to moderate learning difficulties.
- Implement nurturing and therapeutic strategies to create a supportive learning environment.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop personalised learning plans.
- Provide pastoral care and emotional support to students, promoting their social and emotional development.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS
- Experience working with children with SEMH and/or Autism
- Strong understanding of therapeutic interventions and nurturing approaches.
- Passion for creating inclusive and supportive learning environments.
