Job Title: Trauma-Informed Teaching Assistant (SEND)

Camden
£95-£110 per day (Term Time Only)
Full-time

Could you be the person who helps a child feel safe, supported and ready to learn?

We are working with welcoming primary and secondary schools across Camden that are looking for caring and resilient Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs. These schools are passionate about creating a positive environment where every child has the opportunity to succeed, no matter the challenges they have faced.

The children you will support may have experienced trauma, have SEMH needs, autism, attachment difficulties or communication needs. They are looking for someone who understands that behaviour is a way of communicating and who can build positive relationships based on trust, patience and consistency.

If you are passionate about supporting children and want to make a genuine difference every day, this could be the role for you.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting pupils with SEND and social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support inside and outside the classroom
  • Building positive relationships to help pupils feel safe and engaged
  • Using trauma-informed approaches to support emotional regulation
  • Working alongside teachers, SENCOs and other school staff
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours

This role could be a great fit if you have experience in:

  • Teaching Assistant roles
  • Youth work
  • Residential care or support work
  • Behaviour mentoring
  • Mental health or psychology support
  • Sports coaching
  • Social care

Experience with SEND, SEMH or autism is beneficial but not essential. The schools are looking for people with the right attitude, patience and willingness to learn.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Is calm, patient and understanding
  • Can build positive relationships with children
  • Is reliable, proactive and adaptable
  • Wants to make a long-term difference
  • Is interested in learning more about trauma-informed practice

Why work with Parker Smith Inclusion?

  • A specialist SEND recruitment agency
  • PAYE only - no umbrella companies
  • Access to long-term and permanent opportunities
  • Ongoing training and support
  • Over 400 five-star Google reviews

If you're looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.
