A brand-new specialist SEN school in Cricklewood is seeking a Trauma-Informed Behaviour Mentor to join their growing team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a provision designed to support neurodivergent students through a nurturing, structured, and child-centred approach.
Many pupils in this setting have experienced barriers to learning, including exclusion and disrupted education. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a vital role in helping students re-engage with learning, build trust, and develop the emotional regulation skills needed to succeed both in school and beyond.
The school is led by an experienced and forward-thinking leadership team who are passionate about alternative education and committed to creating a supportive environment for both pupils and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support students with SEMH needs, autism, and behavioural challenges
• Build strong, consistent relationships to support engagement and trust
• Use trauma-informed strategies to support emotional regulation
• Work 1:1 and in small groups to deliver targeted interventions
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
Requirements:
• Experience working with young people in SEMH, youth work, or care settings
• Strong understanding of behaviour and emotional needs
• Calm, resilient, and consistent approach
• Passion for supporting vulnerable young people
• Ability to build positive and professional relationships
Backgrounds That Work Well in This Role:
• Behaviour Mentors and Teaching Assistants
• Youth Workers and Support Workers
• Residential Care or Social Care Professionals
• Individuals with experience in PRUs or alternative provisions
• Graduates with experience supporting young people
