Are you an experienced Behaviour Mentor with a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?
A specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Harlesden, North West London is seeking a full-time Trauma-Informed Behaviour Mentor to support secondary-aged pupils who require consistent, structured and therapeutic support to re-engage with education.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in alternative provision, SEMH schools, youth work, residential care, or custodial settings.
The Role – Trauma-Informed Behaviour Mentor
As a Behaviour Mentor within this specialist setting, you will:

Provide 1:1 and small group SEMH mentoring

Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management
-
Assist during lessons, transitions and unstructured times
-
Implement behaviour support plans and risk assessments
-
Use restorative practice and de-escalation strategies
-
Promote positive behaviour, resilience and engagement
You will play a key role in helping pupils rebuild trust, develop coping strategies and access learning in a safe and structured environment.
Ideal Experience
We welcome applications from candidates with experience in:

Pupil Referral Units (PRU) or alternative provision

SEMH specialist schools

Youth mentoring or youth work

Residential care / children’s homes

Secondary school pastoral or behaviour support

Prisons or Youth Offender Institutions
Experience managing challenging behaviour, conflict resolution and working within high-risk environments is highly transferable to this role.
