Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant
- Kingston, Surrey
- Supportive and friendly SEN School
- Supporting children aged 3 - 19 with Autism/ASC, MLD, SLD, and PMLD
- £90 - £95 PAYE per day; weekly payment
- Full-time (term time only), ASAP start
This position is a specialist role that requires determination, a willingness to learn, patience, and a good sense of humour.
The students within this school have a wide range of learning difficulties, including Autism/ASC, Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). Some children are non-verbal or pre-verbal and communicate using visuals, PECS or communication devices. Some experience dysregulated behaviour linked to anxiety or sensory needs. Some children have physical disabilities, are wheelchair users, and require mobility or personal care support.
You will be working in small classes with high staff ratios, alongside experienced teachers and therapists, supporting children with complex needs to access learning in ways that work for them.
Your day may include supporting personalised learning activities, helping with communication strategies, assisting with sensory regulation, supporting feeding and personal care, and building trusting relationships with children who need consistency and calm adults around them.
There is a lot to learn in this position, and the role really requires someone seeking a long-term opportunity. The children in this school deserve to be educated and supported by someone kind, nurturing, emotionally resilient and genuinely interested in SEND.
This is not a role for someone looking for “any job.” It is ideal for someone who wants to build a career in specialist education, therapy, psychology or care, or someone who already has personal or professional experience with complex needs.
This position starts ASAP.
