Unqualified SEND Teaching Assistant – Harrow
£90 to £95 per day (PAYE)
Monday to Friday, 08:30 AM to 04:00 PM

In this Unqualified SEND Teaching Assistant role, you will be placed in one of our partner schools across Harrow, including areas such as Harrow on the Hill, Wealdstone, Kenton, Rayners Lane, Pinner, and surrounding locations. You will be supporting children and young people with a range of additional needs, including:
Autism
Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD – SLD)
Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
Speech, language, and communication needs
Sensory and complex learning needs
What does the role look like?
You will be working in a supportive classroom environment with a small number of students, usually no more than 8 per class, alongside a team of experienced staff.
Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:
Supporting students through sensory, creative, and play-based learning activities
Helping pupils build confidence, communication skills, and independence
Supporting students during lessons and structured activities
Assisting with daily routines and personal care when needed
Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other SEND professionals
Encouraging and celebrating student progress throughout the school day
Who is this role for?
You do not need formal teaching qualifications, but you should have the right attitude and willingness to learn while supporting children with additional needs. People who often succeed in this role may have:
A background in childcare, psychology, education, or health and social care
Experience working in care, youth work, or support roles
A personal interest or understanding of SEND
This role is ideal for individuals who:
Have experience or exposure to SEND through work, volunteering, or personal life
Are patient, compassionate, and emotionally resilient
Feel comfortable supporting with personal care where required
Are reliable and committed to working in a school long term
Are eager to learn from experienced SEND teachers and specialists
