Monday to Friday, 08:30 AM to 04:00 PM

Full-time, long-term to permanent contract (term-time only)

In this Teaching Assistant role, you will be placed and working in one of our partner schools within Hillingdon in either Hayes, Uxbridge, Ruislip or West Drayton supporting children or young adults with:

  • Autism
  • Moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD – SLD)
  • Profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)
  • Complex communication and/or sensory needs

 

What does the role look like:

You will be a part of a small class setting with no more than 8 students, supported by 2 to 3 adults where teamwork truly matters.

Your day will involve:

  • Supporting students through sensory and play-based learning
  • Helping children communicate, explore and regulate in their own way
  • Supporting with daily routines and personal care where required
  • Working alongside teachers, therapists and experienced SEN staff
  • Celebrating progress that might look small on paper, but is huge in real life

 

Who is this role for:

Although you do not need any formal qualifications, you will need to have the right mindset and attitude to support those with special needs. Typically, the type of people that do well have:

  • A background in childcare, psychology or health and social care
  • Experience working in care or support work for children or adults
  • Those will personal experience and interests in SEND

The role suits people who:

  • Have genuine experience or exposure to SEND (work, volunteering, family or personal)
  • Are calm, patient, emotionally intelligent and resilient
  • Are comfortable with personal care and physical aspects of the role
  • Want consistency and commitment, not short-term experience
  • Are open to learning and being guided by specialist professionals
