Pay: £90–£100 per day (PAYE)

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Havering is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join their Year 1 classroom, supporting a pupil with Special Educational Needs. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a nurturing mainstream environment where every child is valued, supported, and encouraged to flourish.

What the Role Involves:

  • Supporting a pupil with SEN within a mainstream Year 1 classroom

  • Assisting with learning, communication, and daily routines

  • Encouraging independence while providing gentle guidance and reassurance

  • Helping the pupil transition smoothly between activities and settings

  • Working closely with the class teacher, SEND team, and families to provide consistent support

About You:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN is highly desirable, though skills from teaching, care, youth work, or similar roles are also valued

  • Calm, patient, and understanding – focusing on supporting development rather than simply managing behaviour

  • Thrive in structured environments where routine helps children feel safe and succeed

  • Passionate about making a real difference in a child’s learning journey

  • Reliable, caring, and open to learning and developing your skills
