Year 1 Teaching Assistant – SEN Support
Location: Havering
Pay: £90–£100 per day (PAYE)
Contract: Full Time | Temporary to Permanent | Start: ASAP

A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Havering is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join their Year 1 classroom, supporting a pupil with Special Educational Needs. What the Role Involves:

Supporting a pupil with SEN within a mainstream Year 1 classroom

Assisting with learning, communication, and daily routines

Encouraging independence while providing gentle guidance and reassurance

Helping the pupil transition smoothly between activities and settings

Working closely with the class teacher, SEND team, and families to provide consistent support
About You:

Experience supporting children with SEN is highly desirable, though skills from teaching, care, youth work, or similar roles are also valued

Calm, patient, and understanding – focusing on supporting development rather than simply managing behaviour
