A specialist SEMH school in Kingsbury is seeking a dedicated Youth Behaviour Mentor to support secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Many pupils have experienced disrupted education, exclusion, or challenging personal circumstances. The school focuses on building positive relationships, clear routines and strong pastoral support to help pupils re-engage with learning and develop confidence.

Youth Behaviour Mentor – Responsibilities

Support pupils throughout the school day including lessons, transitions and social times

Provide 1:1 mentoring and small group support focused on behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement

Help pupils develop positive coping strategies and improve behaviour for learning

Use calm, consistent and trauma-informed approaches when responding to challenging behaviour

Work closely with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams to maintain consistent behaviour support

Contribute to behaviour plans, pastoral strategies and EHCP targets
Youth Behaviour Mentor – Requirements

Experience supporting young people with SEMH, behavioural needs or challenging behaviour

Background in youth work, mentoring, support work, education or care settings is highly desirable

Calm, patient and resilient personality with strong relationship-building skills

Ability to manage difficult situations confidently and professionally

Commitment to a full-time, long-term role supporting pupils with additional needs
