Contract: Full time, term time only, temporary to permanent

Are you someone who can stay calm, consistent and supportive when a young person is finding things challenging, and help guide them towards more positive choices?

A specialist alternative provision in Wembley is seeking a dedicated Youth Behaviour Mentor to support secondary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many students have experienced disrupted education, exclusion, or challenges outside of school. The setting focuses on structure, routine and strong relationships to help pupils rebuild trust, confidence and engagement with learning.

The role

  • Support pupils throughout the school day, including lessons, transitions, break times and lunch
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group mentoring focused on emotional regulation and behaviour
  • Respond to challenging behaviour using calm, restorative and trauma-informed approaches
  • Follow behaviour support plans and contribute to EHCP targets and interventions
  • Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to ensure consistency
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with pupils who may find trust difficult

Who this role would suit

  • Experience in SEMH, behaviour support, youth work, mentoring, alternative provision or care settings
  • A calm, resilient and emotionally intelligent approach
  • Confidence managing challenging behaviour and supporting pupils through dysregulation
  • A genuine passion for helping young people re-engage with education
  • Commitment to a full time, long term role where consistency is key
