Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people with Autism and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We are looking for a resilient, compassionate, and proactive Autism Behaviour Mentor / Teaching Assistant to join our specialist Nurture Class. This vital role supports students with Autism who may present challenging behaviours such as biting, self-injury, and sensory dysregulation, as well as pupils with broader SEMH needs.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Providing consistent 1:1 and small-group support to students in a nurturing, trauma-informed environment

  • Implementing personalised behaviour and sensory regulation strategies

  • Working closely with the SEND Teachers, therapists, and teaching staff to deliver tailored interventions

  • Building trusting relationships with students, helping them feel safe, understood, and empowered to learn

  • De-escalating behaviour safely using positive behaviour support techniques

  • 8am - 3:30pm (one day a week you will work 4pm)

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people with Autism and/or SEMH

  • Remains calm under pressure and shows empathy in challenging situations

  • Understands sensory needs and how they impact learning and behaviour

  • Is committed to inclusion and believes every child can thrive with the right support

  • Has MAPA training (or is willing to be trained)

  • Someone with a background as a SEND TA in a school/PRU/Provision or someone who has worked with young people in correctional facilities

  • If you have a background in the police, youth centres, or prisons, you are also welcome to apply.

What We Offer:

  • A supportive and collaborative team environment

  • Ongoing CPD, including training in behaviour management and Autism-specific approaches

  • The chance to make a meaningful difference every single day

If you're ready to bring your energy, empathy, and experience to a rewarding role, we’d love to hear from you.
